Monday afternoon tidbits

A quick read on Monday’s UConn football press conference:

Quarterback Casey Cochran talked his decision to give up football after multiple concussions (more upcoming later).

“It was a tough decision, but I literally have no regrets,” said Cochran, who won high school state titles at New London and Masuk before becoming a Husky. “I want to be healthy, not just now, but in 20 years, in 40 years, in 60 years from now, and to live a long and happy life.

“I’m happy right now. I’m happy with my new roles.”

EARLY DEPARTURES: Two red-shirt seniors’ careers are over Diaco announced Monday. Defensive end Angelo Pruitt has a “genetic” lower leg issue while reserve offensive lineman Bryan Paull has an upper body condition that will take him off the field. Neither will remain with the team.GAME TIME: The Huskies will host Temple at 4 p.m. Sept. 27 at The Rent. The game will be broadcast on ESPNews.
